Could be the pnion bearing, u joint, or slip yoke being over greased.

Pull the drive shaft out and see what you get.

You can't.. but you just (mark the two sides) slide the yoke out and remove all the grease you can from the splines and driveshaft (just dip a screw driver in there to get most of it out), and then lightly grease the splines and put it back together.

It's more likely one of the other things with that much movement though.

You replaced the carrier bearing? How long ago, and what brand did you use?

I replaced it like 4 days ago. And I know it’s not going to be the carrier bearing that is causing the problem because where it usually shakes when the cb is bad, at this moment it’s not its only the side that is attached to the diff is shaking. And the brand is dorman. I checked the drum breaks to see if that would be the problem and they seemed to be a good shape I adjusted the adjusters, but it all pin points to the drive shaft

Get ready to replace that doorman carrier bearing again soon. The aftermarket ones last about a year.

Did you make match marks, when you did that work? Follow the correct procedure for torquing the nut?

Pull the shaft and check the u joints and pnion bearing.

Make sure all your drive shaft yokes are lined up. If not it throws the drive shaft out of phase.

So when I was replacing the cb, this part of the driveshaft fell out and there are splines insides the driveshaft that that align with it, but I didn’t mark it where it originally went, so I guesstimated on where it goes May that be the reason, also u-joint is bad had play im going to end up replacing it today

Here is a generic photo of a proper driveshaft in phase.

oooo yeah. not doing yourself any favors here. Let me dig up the right diagram that describes the phasing.

    From the FSM:
    upload_2023-5-31_13-0-57.jpg
pay close attention to the zerk fittings and yokes. Once you have it in what you think it's the correct orientation, if you still get a vib, rotate the yoke 180 degress.

Also, I HIGHLY recommend toyota u joints as well. I went with a doorman carrier bearing, and moog u joints, they both failed within a year. OEM is expensive up front, but you don't have to do it multiple times... At the very lest try to get Spicer u joints.

Be aware, the yokes are tapered. Timmy has a great video on how to replace the u joints. The taper makes the usual u joint tools hard to use and you're more likely to mess up the bearing cups and yoke by pressing them in off axis.

I highly suggest you get yourself a copy of the FSM. If you just do a google search for the 1st gen tacoma factory service manual, you'll find a link to a zip file somewhere. It's for a 2003, but it'll be fine.

Take the whole shaft to a shop. I had mine balanced for $60. They will check out all ujoints and paint it pretty for you.
