So I've been messing with my rear E locker and it is a pain in the butt to engage. I have a MT and I follow the instructions to the letter. 4 high, neutral hold in clutch, 4low, neutral hold in clutch engage e locker. It just flashes I've tried it on dirt roads doing s turns and it never engages on the first try. I have to shut the truck off then try again and it almost always goes right in then. Anyone else have this issue?

Don't you have to turn on ATRAC first?

The e locker usually won't engage right when you push the button, after you push it try rolling forward a few feet. Sometimes it takes a few sometimes more, sometimes you get lucky and its lined up right away when you press it. But it's completely normal.

It may take a minute to engage. Could also be it's clocked improperly from the factory. You don't need to depress the clutch to engage the elocker.

It will engage when turning slightly right and left. Like said previously it sometimes but not always is lined up to engage immediately

Ya I knew that much. What I don't know is what the hell the difference is between TRAC and TRAC OFF. Someone the other day told me that both use the brakes for the E-LSD but TRAC OFF doesn't regulate the throttle like TRAC does. That's what I was told. It seems like I get a different answer depending on the day of the week.

I think this is normal as others have stated. For me same sort of thing with 4Lo at times. Just have to move a bit and things slide into place.

Great thanks for all the replies. Makes sense everything has to line up and I guess if I were stuck it would spin enough to lock in.

What would this mean if it were clocked improperly? Seems like its always taken a lot of screwing around to engage it.

Once you're in 4lo you can press the locker button at any time, you don't have to be at a stop or have the clutch in, that's only necessary for going into 4lo. I press mine all the time crawling at 5-10 mph when I see that I'm coming up on something that might require the locker. Just takes a few feet for the light to go solid and the locker to engage

Interesting, mine I can engage while moving as long as I'm in 4lo. I think it's limited to 15mph which I don't ever really exceed in 4lo anyway.

This is the reason I like auto lockers such as the Detroit locker , no buttons to push to activate it

auto lockers are shit. useless off road and can cause problems on road in the snow if you start slipping it locks and makes you lose all traction. Heard and seen way too many horror stories with auto lockers engaging when they shouldn't. Auto lockers have their place but in a truck for off road fuck no.

Air lockers are by far the best.

I had a daily driver 68 M38A1 Jeep rock crawler that had Detroit Lockers front and rear and with 33x12.50-15 TSL swampers . I drove that Jeep 35 miles ea way to/from work for 8 years . Never had a problem with the lockers on the street
