Yes. The back wheels came off. They are supposed to be on.

There is a TSB for this.

How do you think the rear shocks caused this?

Looks more like a U-bolt issue to me, and VERY poor recovery attempt.

I kind of also want to know what lead up to this. There were other things that had gone wrong, it seems.

And I also want to see the other angles because a lot of people were filming knowing something spectacular was going to happen.

I still don’t get it... I thought that if you pull a car with the wheels locked the wheels would not come off like that... I know you are applying some weird force to the truck but this????

He said he pulled it off the market and sold his wife's Lexus and leased a mini van (just had twins). So... wasn't on the market any longer. No chance now!

    TLDR:

Fact: Owner installs Dakar leaf pack about a month prior.

Speculation: Owner doesn't properly torque u-bolts.

    Fact: U-bolts break.

Both fact and speculation: Those filming tried to help him by encouraging to get replacement parts.

Fact: Owner declined the good advice to follow through with his poor judgement and back down the hill.

(Facts based off of last 8 pages some people didn't read)

I'm also curious what what said prior to the video. Things were obviously already messed up and it sounds like they tried to give him advice but the guy wouldn't listen.

I really want to know how did it get to the point where everyone just agreeded to say eff-it...let him learn the hard way and let's not say a thing. He must have really pissed off the crowd for it to get to that point.

You can only tell someone something so many times until you accept he's an adult, it's his truck and he can make his own decisions.
I wasn't there, but I'm assuming they gave it a try based off of what has been said.

What sucks is no one said "can I at least ratchet strap your axle to your leafs?" or better yet, someone just doing it.

This is the second time in less than a month I've seen people using winches as tow straps.....is this a new thing? People been doing recoveries wrong for years!

and WTF was the muffled-fire-crackers-going-off-in-a-coffee-can noise?

and IF the ubolts were toast before this went down, how the fuck could you not feel that before they all sheared? There's no way you could drive like that and not notice.

Agreed, I refuse to believe someone could drive on ubolts that loose and not realize something was wrong, there's gotta be more to the story
