    Hey, Folks.

After probably my second off road run with washboard climbs a couple years ago, I would get a squeak from the rear. I found that it was the push fasteners in the top of the rear wheel wells coming slightly loose. Pushing them in again would clear it up for a week or so, depending. The right side was most often found loose.

The other day, I swapped in SS 8-32 x 5/8in socket head screws, SS 7/8in fender washers, and mating wellnuts. The squeak is gone, similar to re-seating the push fasteners.

The metric wellnuts that I had for my bike were one size too big and Ace didn't have metric wellnuts. I don't like mixing SAE and Metric fasteners, but I should never have to touch these again.

The wellnuts were tight to get in. I used some grease and wobbling pressure to get them through the upper side which seems to be a molded flange off of the bed.

I am not sure if this will help anyone, but I thought that I would toss it out there.

    Have a good one.

I am a big fan of using SS hardware on everything that gets used outdoors . I just sold a trailer I had that I had used SS eye bolts , nuts and washers on in 1988 . They still looked like I just put them on . Costs more up front but well worth it .

I have the same line of thinking. I don't need nature's loctite messing with me down the road either.

I once swapped my winter tires to summer tires and noticed a weird noise, spent a week trying to figure it out.

I never re-torqued my wheels, easiest 40 bucks that shop ever made.
