Maybe for the last 1000 miles the rear end has been squeaking. My 08 SR5 has 160K on everything original. Every time I step out the truck, come to a stop, or even close my door a little too hard, I can hear it squeak. Could this the shocks or the leafs? Or something else? After it rains the noise goes away for a day or 2 but comes back.

It’s probably the leaf springs. There are a number of threads on here about squeaky leaf springs. Mine squeak on and off all the time. When I get extra motivated, i jack the truck up and put lube everywhere it fits and it solves the problem temporarily.

CAVEAT: although I have had the same issue with the stock leaf springs, I have been running OME Dakars for many years now.

It’s the leaf spring packs. Nothing can really be done. Teflon rub strips can help for a short time

Random or regular with it increasing as speeds increase? Leafs or bad U joint, dry and squeaking as it rotates.

my leafs make the same noise. I have the same symptoms as you. however i am pretty sure it is the bushing. If it squeaks it is the bushings, if it creaks it is the leaf.

I need to go in there and grease my bushings and see if it makes the sound go away.

I lifted the truck, greased the hell out of the leafs, sound went away (who knows for how long) used white lithium grease.

These have worked the best for me. They are a little ticker than the pads that come with the leafs, well at least the OME Leafs. Jack up the truck from the hitch as high as you can so the leafs get the most drop possible. This will spread them out and allow you to remove the old ones and replace with these. You'll need a couple of pry bars for extra motivation. Added some Red Tacky grease between the leafs. Worked very well.
