So just drove up to Asheville and checked the rear end and it looks like the rear maybe leaking. A few dark areas that look wet around rear axle and my truck is on the recall list. Not sure when Toyota will take care of this? Have my 15k service coming up, so will keep you guys posted especially if they take my truck hostage...lol

They can't take your truck hostage. If they want to keep it, tell them no and leave.

I would wait till the 20k is due or two weeks after the letter because they just rotate the tires every five and change oil at 10k. I would check the oil level at 15k though and make sure its ok.
Why?? Because if they do decide to keep it, you're responsible for anything that happens on the loaner rental, and that's not what I signed up for.

Good call kgilly, I can live with a $500 scratch or two on my vehicle, but not the rentals, they'll want C.O.D. lolo!

If you keep your truck they will blame any diff issues on you and may not repair them.

Yeah so a lot people have said this on TW. However I have yet to see ONE post where the dealer wanted to hold the truck and the customer was able to say f u and take it back without signing something.

The guy that posted on youtube that his dealer keeping his truck wasn't acceptable to him, had to actually sign a waiver to get his truck back. Which to me isn't really getting your truck back without a ball and chain because in the back of your mind you're thinking fuck if my rear axle locks up and it causes an accident Toyota is washing their hands and anyone that gets killed or injured is on me. And what if your auto ins. co. says we're not responsible because you signed the waiver and you should have let them keep your truck. Then potentially you could lose everything.

I asked the youtube guy if he wouldn't mind posting what he had to sign, hopefully he will so we can see the conditions.

^this. When you take your truck back you sign a liability waiver. So anything that happens is on you. I wouldn't even be surprised if in that waiver there is a clause which frees Toyota from having to fix anything for you if something happens down the road to it. So everyone who is acting all tough and mighty over the Internet, I would love to see proof that you strong armed corporate America into getting your way.
