Heya. How does the 16 do with a 4900lb load? Manual or AT? If manual, I can well imagine as I towed for many years with the manual. With an AT, (which is what I have in my 16) the 2200lbs I tow takes more.... "finess"(?) Power wise it's plenty; naturally the ECT is ON, and the use of the paddle shifter becomes optional. I use it 'on occasion'.

Put the sumos on this morning. 1/2 hour 45 min install. So far so good. Seems like a good alternative to air bags. Time will tell. image.jpg

It does great. I'm actually in the 5300 pound range now with 2 filled propane tanks and 35 gallons in the water tank. I have an auto, use ect and don't go over 4th gear. Here in California I'm limited to 55 mph so I'm not breaking any speed records but it maintains speed no problem. Only hunts 3rd to 4th a little. I'm also over 700 pounds on the tongue, and for that much weight I think this truck tows very well. Towing mpg is 10-13 mpg. Not bad considering it's a huge heavy brick that in towing around...not the most aerodynamic shape. Matter of fact, can't really think of anything worse than this.
This pic was with no weight distribution system. The wd hitch brought the back up a little more. Even here it didn't sag that much. Shocked the trailer builder when I hooked it up to my truck. He was expecting a lot of squat.

I do not see the front of the trailer . Is it a Vee or 90 degree from the sides ? If it is 90 degree , that is great mileage .

I wish it was a Vee. It is straight up 90 degree wall. I thought it was pretty good too, but I also get good gas mileage unloaded as well. 23-24 mpg highway with 265 75 16 e load tires.

I was considering the Icon AAL w/ factory overload removed, but had concerns with losing capacity. It seems this might be a good compliment to that setup providing a more compliant ride unloaded and these springs to augment heavier loads.

If you are referring to the timbren set up, I don't even know they are there. Some had issues with it riding rough, but honestly the only way I can tell they are there when not loaded is the fact that cornering has way less body roll. When I turn, the truck transfers weight and starts to roll. The timbrens are about .5 inches from touching the frame, so as soon as the truck starts to roll it comes in contact with the timbren and the roll stops. Feels really similar to a larger rear sway bar on a sports car....well similar but obviously it's still s truck.

Makes me think of pulling up a big halibut. Like pulling up a sheet of plywood, and I don't mean slipstream either! Lol.
But seriously, that's a great report on the performance you're talking about. Clearly through engine/tranny configuration is working well for you. Nice to hear positive news. Thanks again

Post a similar pic post-Sumo Springs install if you can. Would be curious to see how it looks now towing this trailer.

I'm interested to know how they flex when off roading. We are looking to tow and off road at different times. Would these be good?

Are you sure that the Tow Package adds the 4 leaf pack? I heard that only the OR gets the softer 4 leaf with overload and the rest get the stiffer 3 leaf pack.

Here is a pic of the timbren without a load and then fully loaded minus me in the truck. I also have a 1" timbren spacer that will close up the unloaded gap just a bit. That way I will get abou .5 sag before it contacts the frame upon load...then maybe another inch sag at most. Pretty good considering the high tongue weight. I think a better solution over air bags. No leaking, full extension while 4 wheeling, not having to air up/down, no bags to deteriorate over time, 15 min. install, lifetime warranty, and the ride when loaded is really really smooth.

The Timbren will allow full extension but if you are wanting to stuff your rear wheels i don't think it's going to happen. If I wanted to have the ability to stuff the wheels when off roading I would just remove the timbren and do my off roading and then put it back when I was done. I'm no pro mechanic and it literally took me less than 10 mins to do both sides. I would liken it to maybe getting out and disconnecting the front sway bar to allow for full articulation...well maybe a little more involved but not by much.

Number 1 (additional lift) is the only thing stopping me at this point. I REALLY appreciate that kind of helpful information (along with the pictures).

Hi Mike. The 5/8" lift? Just a note on that, if I hadn't of measured it, I probably wouldn't see any difference.
