So ever since I bought my truck about a year ago. I have had this little issue. idk how to describe it other than it feels like the rear shocks are getting stuck. when I accelerate from a dead stop it feels like the unsticks and I can feel a little "thunk". I haven't done anything yet with the thought that my new rear shocks would fix the issue. Well they didn't. so I'm wondering could this be a drive shaft issue? or something else? 2012 dcsb trd offroad 70k miles just installed Billie's +1" block in rear.

I used to experience a "CLUNK" in my old BMW that occurred upon acceleration when shifting from first to second gear. It came from the rear differential and needed to be replaced. Could be something to keep in mind.

that's the thing, mine doesn't do it when shifting. It's like immediately after I let off the brake at a stop, and go to accelerate.

ok so figure out what axle wrap is and going to be trying the axle wrap mod to hopefully fix the issue.

thanks for the key word haha

Is this a common thing when coming to a stop as well? My truck has a "thud" when I'm braking and come to a complete stop. Factory springs but my VIN doesn't show the recall. It also happens the moment I release the brake from tension (sitting at a stoplight). I just put Bilstein 5100s on the rear a few weeks ago. Didn't help the problem. Thoughts?

Sounds like the same issue and the fix is putting a new leaf pack under it. Kind of sucks because I just got the damn truck level. If I raise the rear any at this point it will sit stinkbug.

I was actually just reading that writeup. Interesting idea. I am assuming this works on 2nd gen? I don't see why it wouldn't.

So I just did this leaf mod this weekend. the U bolts and plate cost total of 16 dollars @ autozone. Seemed to help but didn't get rid of the axle wrap completely, but def has taken it to a level where I hardly notice it. eventually I will do an AAL to hopefully completely rid the issue.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
You maybe experiencing the tranny down shift into first also. I think there was a TSB for harsh shifting on the 2nd gens, but I'm not sure.

"A traction bar" as in 1 traction bar? not sure that will help haha. I'm good with what got now until I get AAL or new leaf pack. unless it gets worse.

There are 2 choices, budbuilt (for clearance it bolts on the diff) or Calvert racing caltracs (what I have, it is not good for clearance as it sits low, it bolts from the shock plate to the leaf spring eye on each side)
