Rear end upgrades on a 2010 X-Runner

Debating whether to change the entire rear end or swap it for something else which has LSD/posi or upgrade diff and do disk conversion. Has anyone done a swap and which rear would be best?

Also, what gear ratios are best for our trucks? Will a 4:10 be better than stock?

Well that's probably not an easy bolt in at all. I was thinking more along the lines of a Toyota rear with a disk brake setup. 4runner, Tundra, etc?

 

4Runner can, but you'll need to add in leaf spring perches.

 

You'd still need to add in the LSD of choice.

One thing to remember, is that for the X-Runner, some people would swap in a PreRunner third member with the 3.73 ratio, as an "upgrade." It generally didn't last long back there because the rpms were always so high. A 3.30 would be a likely better choice, since yours starts as a 3.15:1.

 

Right, looking at almost a grand to do different and then disk brakes would be another bundle of cash. Just wondering if it would be easier to swap it and make it stronger at the same time...

 

Depends on how cheaply you can find that axle, and then the labor to have it modified to fit your truck.....

Does said axle come with brakes attached already?
