I have a 2006 dcsb 4.0 auto 4x4 and it has 190,000 miles on it currently. It started having a rear end vibration a little while ago and I replaced the u joints. It helped, then they wore out again quickly, and when I took it in to get them replaced, the mechanic noticed the rear axle seal was leaking and the rear end had no diff fluid in it and had metal shavings in it. So i had the whole rear end replaced and get new u joints again....I changed out my leaf springs and put on bilstein shocks at about 150,000 miles so I wouldn't think its an axle wrap issue. It vibrates noticeably when taking off somewhat quickly from a stop..worsens the harder you take off. Also it will do it when already going and giving it gas to where it has to drop down a couple gears. The vibration worsens the heavier the load you put on it from accelerating and every once in a while it will vibrate when cruising at high speeds and low rpms. Any idea what the problem could be? I just dropped $2000 getting the new rear end and u joints and the problem only seemed to get worse.

Are your U-boats tightened down? Also do you have a lift?

Drive shaft installed out of Phase ??

Ask your mechanic if he installed the driveshaft in phase

Driveshaft bent ?? Out of Balance ??

You replaced the differential or got told you needed to replace the complete axle ??

I'll have to ask him about the driveshaft...they replaced the differential not the complete axle. The vibration actually got a little worse after they did that but it's the exact same type of vibration/shudder...I just noticed that the bolt on the gear case of the axle is now leaking oil. I also have a squeak coming from the rear end after they messed with it. It's not my brakes....any idea of what it might be? U joints look greased up. The repairs cost $2,000 total and everything is the exact same with the same problems and now I have a little continuous sqeak when when moving.

That is one of those things the shop could not get it correct the first time .

Would you want to give them another shot.

This must have been making the vibration as soon as you drove it ??

How long has it been ??

I'd look at your carrier bearing, make sure the u bolts are torque to spec, I think it's about 105 ft pounds, but you should double check that to be sure.
