    Hi Gang,

Just a heads up that I've been having issues with the rear-end in my 2019 Tacoma 4 door SR5 2WD. It whines up and down in the 45-60 mph range and in the 80-95 mph range and echo's through the truck body... Toyota Techs tried diligently working with me on a fix for 3 months, which included changing out the differential and then rear-end housing but ends up that noise is common in all most Tacoma's like mine, so it-is-what-it-is and I'm stuck with it till my lease runs out in 2.5 years. If you know anyone looking at a new Tacoma, give them a heads-up on the concern during test rides and see if it bothers them.. There is really nothing that can be done to stop the whine and it does get louder over time/miles... I've had about 25 Toyota's/Lexus's since the 80's and this is my 4th truck.. I am disappointed in the annoyance.

Also, there was a driveshaft rumble at 55 MPH. They troubleshot for quite some time and changed the rear springs to 4wd springs; which changed the pinion angle and helped reduce the groan. it is much less now but occurs at 53 MPH and quickly disappears after... Putting a few bags of sand in the bed makes it go away..

Has anyone tried different brands or weights of oil in the dif? I've seen people say one brand makes noise, and another brand doesn't. Then someone else says the opposite. I wonder if the oil they're using in the dif makes noise for some people.

I'm not saying you should have to do this. But if the dealer is stumped, its something that could be tried.
