Post a pic/link to it. I can tell you whether it’s an open or limited slip diff right away if there are pics

    That’s a limited slip.

edit: kinda expensive for used. Unless really low miles. Are there pics of the truck it came out of? If low miles, no lift or big tires and no tow hitch I would buy it

Well considering they were 1000-1200 new I figured $400 was cheap. Everything else used down here is higher than$400. This shouldn’t be a problem in my truck though being LSD?

I wouldn’t equate the two. One is an actual limited slip diff (there are still different versions such as clutches or worm gears) and the other just simulates it via applying brakes. With the latter, no donuts or intentional wheel spin for you!

Will this effect my traction control though? Making me unable to spin tires if needed?

    Lol, check out my spec.
No TC and Open all the time.

I know wheel spin, and it sucks most of the time.
Unless you are wanting to have fun, I had all that fun years ago.
That type of fun can get “expensive”.

Okay thanks for all your help. I been hearing a whir/whine at 55-60 and can recreate it with the pedal. I’ve checked my wheel bearings for play and changed center support bearing. I’m pretty sure it’s rear diff

It might be. Does it go away or come on specifically when you let off the gas and coast ?

If I’m speeding up in the 55-60 range it’ll whine if I let of the gas or speed up it will stop. If I decel it will do it for a second then go away. It’s only in that speed range. Idk what else it could possibly be

It might be bearings but I can’t say for sure. Have you tried new gear oil?

I thought maybe rear wheel bearings but they have no play or roughness. Usually from my experience wheel bearings will make noise at almost any speed not just a certain speed
