I don't think this bumper is meant to limit insurance costs it's plastic . The hitch does all the "protection". The corners and bedsides/ bedside pillars are very vulnerable .

We are starting to think about it. The sensor box is so HUUUUGGGGEEEE! We would need to make the corner of the bumper much bigger to fit it and we are trying to come up with a clever solution to avoid that.

Hi - probably a dumb question but can you ship to a body shop? Also, does it need to be painted or is powder coating enough of a finish? I knocked my bumper with 5k on my truck and instead of doing the $1200 repair I'm looking to upgrade but am limited in my ability to do mods at home.

Changing a rear bumper is a few big bolts and disconnecting a few plugs. If you have basic tools and a friend you can change it out.

Seriously? I'm comfortable with power drills and I have a few friends... I was really bummed about my damaged bumper but this thread is giving me hope. Might get an upgrade. :)

Any thoughts on the paint? I'm good with a black bumper on the MGM but I don't want it to look like primer and half-assed.

We can ship to a body shop. Powder coating is a great option and we can take care of it for you.

Awesome! It sounds like I could probably install it myself (which is awesome) but having it delivered powered coated would be even better.
...The only concern I have to address first is to make sure none of the metal behind the plastic bumper is compromised but I think it's good. Thanks for the quick response!

Indeed, but that's what Mike Sweers stated at the Chicago auto show when they first came out, when explaining the design.
