I have been reading this website for a while and waiting for all the new info to come out but this is not how I wanted to make my first post. I was rear ended yesterday on the way coming back from hunting. I dropped it off at the repair shop and they said what I already knew. That it will need a new frame, tail gate, bed and all parts of the bumper. I am pretty bummed because I only had it for 3 weeks and it was my first new car. Here are some pics of the accident. image.jpgimage.jpg image.jpgimage.jpg

Doesn't hardly even look like there was much damage at all to the car that hit you, looks like it over rode the Taco bumper.

I will try to get pictures of the frame when I get it back. I am still banged up from the wreck. I took it to service king because that who usaa recommend and they will warranty the work. The called back and said they will have to call the dealer to get prices because none of the 2016 parts are not in the system.

I would have the dealer body shop handle it or find a high end shop to repair. Never use the insurance company recommended shop!

    :(
Be sure you look into diminished value.

I think the dealer shop will get a priority for parts for a in house repair vs an outside shop. I could be wrong just my opinion!

A few OE parts from fancy trucks
When you say 'frame', we think the whole truck being lifted off and a whole new frame installed.

If that level of hit got the frame (not just bumper supports or some cross member bits behind that, but outer frame rails) that would be both surprising and pathetic (on Toyota's part)

Take care of your body, the rest is just a truck.

Did the box hit the cab just under the back glass? Doesn't look all to bad, I would say its repairable (Frame). Keep a close tab on the Ins. co. for diminished value.

Bummer, but accidents happen. If it wasn't your fault I would be demanding a total loss truck replacement from the other insurance company. You shouldn't have to drive around a frankenstein tacoma. Can't figure out the accident scene, what is up with that jackknifed truck/trailer, and the airbag on the Acura never deployed?

At least you have USAA. Best insurance company out there. They have gone above and beyond on many occasions for us.

I know how you are feeling right now man. I'm waiting to get my 1 month old 2015 back from an accident which required my frame to be replaced. The frame was an estimated 6-8 weeks out at the time of the estimate. Good luck man! AT LEAST IT WOULD APPEAR THAT THE PERSON THAT HIT YOU HAS INSURANCE. The nice upstanding peach of a lady that hit me... did not.
