Ouch now that had to hurt.... mofo...

To the OP - sorry for your loss and hope you feel better soon. It's just a truck and health is WAY more important and once lost much much harder to fix than a frame.

Gawd damit man, doesn't that just piss you the fook off? Fooking idiots distracted while driving.... I had a 20 yr or girl in a beat up 2005 corolla T-bone me when I still had my 2010 Taco. About $5000 worth of damage, not that bad, but it makes me angry AF. Luckily she admitted to texting her BF cos they had a fight and she felt bad...

I hope you are ok tho. You have the exact same truck as me so it was sad to see. Good luck man!

Man, I must be really out of date. I'm from the Hilux and Gen 1 decade. I will be buying a 2016 Tacoma. I looked over the photos, and I'm amazed that this damage will require a new frame. Really sorry to hear this.

I would make sure they compensate you for the resale devaluation.. You going to lose thousands when you trade or sell your truck.. If you have to sue the other persons insurance i would.. Don't get screwed over like i did and fight for it now.

Hey look at it like this. You're about 4 or 5 years ahead of Schedule for the frame replacement. Have it coated with something like fluid film or better yet painted with por-15 before it's installed.

By design. They crumple so that there is less of an impact on the people inside. Happened to my wife's Lexus, she was hit from behind and even though it didn't look all that bad, they say once the frame crumples it provides zero protection to passengers anymore and hers ended up being totaled.

That's what this is for 30 MPH before damage to the truck. Well worth the $139 and makes a great bed step as well. Yeah its ugly....I don't have to see it though,

"Dear Jeff: I was taking my now 4 month old son and our dog for a ride this afternoon when I was rear ended by a car going 30 miles per hour. I barely felt the impact and neither my son (he was checked out at the hospital to make sure) or dog seemed to be impacted by the collision.

When I examined my truck, there was not even a scratch on the bumper. I wanted to thank you for the quality of the product and the fact that it did what was advertised. Sincerely, Dr. Timmothy Brusseau, Brockport, NY"

It is illegal in some states to have something like that mounted in the receiver and sticking out if you aren't using it to haul/tow anything. Also, that is going to take all of the energy of the impact and transmit it directly to your frame. Yes, for very low speed wrecks, it will save you from bumper damage, but for high speed hits, it will destroy your hitch receiver and damage your frame while avoiding the crumple zones on the bumper designed to protect the driver and passengers from the impact.

Their insurance should just buy you a new truck. That accident report will stay with the truck now no matter where It goes and no one Wants a used truck with a collision on its record unless it used for a hunting/farm vehicle, which it won't be for many many years from now. If there is structural frame Damage, I'd want the truck replaced (not the frame)
