Got in a 3 vehicle wreck this morning. An F250 carrying a 26ft toy hauler rear ended me and pushed me into a Kia. Could have been a lot worse...

I'm far from a mechanic and while I wait for an estimate wanted to get some feedback. The first pic is what I'm concerned about... It's the rear passenger side.

Picture does not show how bad the hood is warped and the bed has obviously shifted a bit too.

Sorry to hear but glad you are ok. I was in a head-on collision a couple of years back and was surprised that there was no frame damage. Hopefully insurance will take care of it

Surprised there is so little damage if you were hit hard enough to hit the car in front of you! Hope all goes well with the repairs and insurance!!

Take it to a body shop and let them do a proper estimate on it.

Looks pretty bent to me in the first picture. Unless that piece of the frame is supposed to bend like that and is replaceable.

I'm having my local Toyota dealer do the inspection and repair. Figured they would be the best option.

The frame is bent but because it's so far back I don't know if it'll be a cause to total. Curious what they find because the bed isn't square anymore and it pulls hard to the right.

I came to a dead stop on interstate and he was still moving pretty good when he hit. Thankfully he swerved and didn't catch me square on.

I doubt it will ever drive the same. I would just try to get it totaled out and just pull off your mods. Buy a set of cheap take offs wheels to throw on there too.

This is what happens when the vehicles involves hit bumper to bumper. The impact force is localized to the bumper mounting points, in this case the frame buckled in the crumple zones perfectly to absorb the impact. The front end has a bit more damage, but it looks like the majority was taken up by the front crash bar.

If it would of be the other way around and the kia hit him from behind then he would not of been pushed into the car infront of him, but the kia would of lifted the back end of the truck up. The kia hood and core support would take a hit from the hitch and crumpled like a tin can. There would be damage to the spare tire and mounting for the tire along with some mild plastic damage to the rear bumper as the hood folds up into it.

Can I really look at between $8-12k for the frame work alone? That's the range I've found when looking at other people that have had same kind of accident. Wasn't expecting or thinking this could be totaled but if that's the case with the frame I would come close to $16kish in repairs which I believe would total it in TN.

I'd let body shop come up with estimate, your insurance adjuster won't accept your (or our) numbers.

I was rear ended last November. My frame looked better than yours and the insurance company has them replacing the rear bumper, the interior of the box and the frame. $15,500 is my estimate, but it’s still in the body shop because it took 6 weeks to get the new frame and Toyota sent the wrong frame! Now we are waiting on a second frame from Toyota! Looks like I’m going to be out of my truck for five or six months. The Toyota dealer that they bought the frame through is at least covering the rental cost of a truck for me now, but I’m out of pocket $2,500 in rental fees unless the other driver’s insurance covers it.
My advice would be to push for them to total your truck so yo can buy a replacement truck right away.

Is your frame bent or just #6 hitch assembly in the below digraph?

It's actually my frame. The #6 hitch assembly shattered.. thought that was kind of weird instead of just bending.
