I waited 5 months to receive my baby and only enjoyed it for 2 months. I got rear ended at a dead stop. The other driver hit me probably around 50km/h (30mph).

My question is do you think it is totaled? With all the flooding in B.C the adjustors will take 7-10 days to even look at my car.

Pictures aren't the best but I can try to gain access to the lot its held at during the day. It looks like the body is buckling outwards around the wheel. I'm hoping that they just total the vehicle as we have a new law in British Columbia that you are not entitled to get compensated for vehicle depreciation due to an accident under any circumstance. Also you can't sue the at fault driver even if you receive permanent life altering injuries. Brutal..

This was the truck that hit me.

My guess is no. If the frame is bent, it could be. Most likely not though. My 1st gen was totaled for a bent frame, repare cost was 12,000 USD with a frame replacement, that is well under the value of your truck. Even if you add 10K to that it is not in the totalled rang.

Of course, that is just a guess.

is this your first time getting rear ended? You might suffer from ptsd after you get on the road and will always watch when cars get close. Your back will hurt. Been rear ended 5 times. Been there, hate the feeling. Afleast youre alive and can buy another truck, gl.

Wow, at least I have confirmation that drivers in Canada drive as bad as they drive here in Georgia!

Good luck to you, seriously... Glad you survived someone else's stupidity...

Yeah it's the first time I've been rear ended. My neck and left side of my face is on fire. Should be all good got an appointment with my Doc tomorrow. Could have been a lot worse.

Haha yeah especially in the province of British Columbia. That's why we can only use one insurance company and that's through the government. They also started a no fault policy so even if you're at fault you're covered equally and can't get sued.

After my extensive research on Tacoma World trying to compare rear end damage, I would say nowhere near enough

In today's car market, I'd go John Wick on someone for smashing into me.

I'm gonna guess yes frame damage. Sorry to see that OP.

Sorry that happened to you and that you’re reasonably ok. I hope whatever symptoms you have clear quickly and never come back.

Seems like BC doesn’t want to hold people accountable for their own stupidity. I’d get the hell out of dodge if you can.

Have you checked to bed to cab gaps? Any variances could indicate frame damage but then again, I have no qualifications :D.

Good Luck! I hope it works out to your satisfaction.

With all due respect to the OP, asking this question here is like asking when the car market is going to go back to normal. No one here has any idea and are only taking wild guesses. We don't have access to your vehicle to inspect it, nor does anyone who isn't an auto insurance adjuster have the expertise. I know it sucks having to wait so long for your adjuster to get to you and you are anxious for an answer so you know what direction to go with your truck, but the answers, unfortunately, are not here.

Good luck with your injuries and truck.

I’m just shocked by this BC law regarding your inability to hold at-fault drivers accountable. It is crazy that some negligent driver could change your life forever and you have no recourse.

In your place (as someone who has also been rear ended before) I’d be looking for the stoutest aftermarket bumper I could find. It probably won’t help you, but it might help amplify the negative consequences for the next negligent driver behind you.

How is one accident confirmation that Canada drivers are as bad as Atlanta drivers?

edit: I only ask because Atlanta roads are a death trap and I refuse to accept that there are worse drivers out there.

I agree, thats a whacky law. I just wonder how long your truck will be out of commission considering the supply chain issues everywhere. You may have a wooden tailgate for a year wiating for the replacement. Sorry op, id be pretty upset if someone smashed my new truck

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
No your correct. I lived there for over 20yrs downtown. Still own a house there but don’t go back on the regular anymore. I stopped riding motorcycles in the town about 6yrs ago.

If can you have no credit, and wanna buy a 600hp dodge…then go to atlanta!!
…they will sell you anything and you can take it on the road, run speeds that cops won’t chase you at, possibly kill someone and still go home to pizza.

That town is the biggest shit show on this planet, the the entire city is lacking in a since of community. Citizens don’t care, enforcement can’t make a dent, and it’s just straight up dangerous.

I moved from there last year after staring down the barrel of a glock. Guy road raged on me at 7a on my way to WaffleHouse. We were the only 2 on the road…my new taco and some beat to shit pos.

my point is, stay the F out of ATL, unless you like living on the edge.

edit - sorry for your loss OP. Sucks to work hard for something and then another person takes that away from you. Been there….glad your ok.

i would that my insurance adjuster totals it. Who the fuck wants to deal with going from a new truck ,to a truck that's all lumped up. Take care of your body first and foremost. If there is a injury there that you feel is real. Go lawyer. Ive said it in the past fuck these assholes on the road. Go for the policy amount.

ICBC has always been a slow process. The floods haven't changed that. They have closed down claim centre's to slow the process down over the years. Sorry to see the state of your truck. The damage in the pictures doesn't look too bad, it's the unseen damage that will write it off though... Good Luck with the whole process, and hope you weren't hurt.
