Looked up the part and it seems it's call the lower bumper valence. Should cost approx. $130. Tacobandit has an install guide.

Still going to the body shop to be certain that's all it is but it look like it could have been a ton worse.

My wife got rear ended a few years ago, light tap, hardly noticable and she exchanged info and let the guy go. When I got home and she told me about it, naturally I was pissed and I'm super anal about my vehicles, I went out and checked the car and noticed that from a distance you couldn't tell at all but up close you could barely make out the screw indentation from the other vehicle's license plate brackets. You know I submitted that claim and their insurance paid. Even though it was small, it ended up being around $800 dollar check or so they sent me in the mail.

In summary just because there wasn't any damage that you saw in the moment, theres probably some anal asshole behind the scenes that is going to get what he can out of it. I guess what I'm saying is you might be holding the ball for both vehicles repair costs if you dont want your insurance to pay. 800 + whatever they say your car would cost is already over most peoples deductible.

I’d be more worried about when the insurance company contacts you and tells you the person you bumped is complaining of a neck injury

I work in the insurance industry. If you can avoid turning it in by all means to do so! Wouldn't be a bad idea to still let your company know what happened in case the other driver becomes sue happy. If the persons car has any damage they want repaired and they submit a claim to the company they have that co may then go after yours (since you're at fault) So even by not turning it in to your company sorry to say there's still have a chance of your rates going up.....

Different jurisdiction. Different laws. Different outcomes.

He is in Ontario with “no fault” insurance claiming. Your own insurance company pays instead of the opposing party’s insurance paying. Any reporting regardless of claim goes against you unless the other party is 100% at fault.

This gets messier when you understand that Ontario also has Collision Reporting Centers where small accidents like this are simply reported to police but no on site investigation is dispatched. Problem with reporting centers is each party is deemed 50% at fault no matter what.

    ***********************

Guys you can’t simply apply the rules and advice that work in your jurisdiction across the board. You inform your insurance company here and you might as well send them a police report.

You will still need to report the accident to your insurance company. The person you hit will be sure to report it so get ahead of it.

Deductible plus having your insurance go up for the next 3 years adds up. The insurance companies need to make lots of money.

Okay update time. Took it to a highly rated collision center and the guy came out and looked around and basically told me it's all cosmetic. Alignment is fine, not even close to any structural damage. He told me it's probably not worth it to pay them for the repair as I could take care of it myself or even have my dealer install a new valence.

I personally do not have the tools or a well lit garage to do this so I arranged it all with my dealer, ordered the part and it should all be taken care of this saturday along with an ECU calibration and a warranty door panel replacement. I even don't mind having the unpainted black valence as I think it will go well with my TRD pro grille.

As for insurance I did report it to them to let them know but did not claim any repairs. Called the police last night and asked around a bit and they said there is no penalty or issue with not reporting the accident as long as I don't need one for an insurance claim. Lady never texted me back. I'm hoping this is happily ever after.

I intended to have it fixed but never did, life happens and you get busy... I bet the marks are still there but you have to be inches away to see them.. no worse than luggage marks in front of the trunk

Looks that way. Totally unintentional, low-speed incident. My fiance was understanding about it, if a tad surprised.
