so i watched your video. i will never have an accident that's my fault. I never have in my 35 years of driving. What i fear, are assholes out there that lose control like the white car did. With that said, the way i drive, at second 27 or so when i saw her fishtailing or whatever I would hit the brake to slow down so that whatever happened there would be in the front of me. I drive very conservatively. You are not at fault here, but you could have stacked the deck in your favor by backing off the gas/hitting the brake when you saw her losing it in the right lane, then seeing her ok proceed but in this case you would have been just a spectator and not a participant. I would have made it a point to keep the semi to my right and in front as much as possible.

    glad you are okay!

I assure you like anyone would in a situation like this, I have played this over and over in my head a 1000 times trying to figure out where I went wrong. The one thing that catches me is that I was looking left to make sure I was clear so I didn’t see her start to lose it. Trust me, if I did this would have been very very different. I had to watch the video myself to figure out exactly what happened. I’ve analyzed my decision many times and I moved to the left to get away from her because the semi was breaking so hard. I thought I was avoiding it to be honest. I’ve personally come to the conclusion that I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Count you blessings that the truck did it,s job and you are ok this would have been a nasty one if you would have rolled into oncoming traffic. By looking at the video you could have done nothing to stop or avoid the accident imho.

    Working on it ...
I feel you brother. I had a situation back when I owned my 2000 standard cab Tacoma. I was driving about 45 to 50 mph On a 2 Lane Road going west. Some cat in an Audi was driving east and literally cut straight in front of me to make a left-hand turn. It happened so quickly, I got to “Oh sh...” before impact. Couldn’t even get the whole “oh shit “out. Totaled my truck and his Audi. When the police came he tried to talk his way out of it and the cop straight up told him to be quiet he was at fault and he was writing up a ticket.

So the point is, yeah you can play it over in your head a 1000 times, but you know what? The outcome is always going to be the same. Because it happened. You cannot unring that bell.

At this point count your blessings, learn from it ... and turn the page.

That's true. Even if you did notice her fishtailing, you couldn't have known where she would end up. Glad all of you guys are ok because it's making me feel a bit safer being in a Tacoma now.
you and OP should have both a doctor and a lawyer. Lerner and Rowe is the way to go call nine seven seven one nine oh oh ( they're actually zeros, not ohs)

I just got a rather healthy settlement. Already ordered kings and wheels for the new one lol. But it made me a believer in the safety for sure.

i am just saying, if you notice something going on, like her fishtailing, i personally would have hit my brakes to let al that mess go away from me. the laws of physics in this case would guarantee she wouldn't come back towards me- she was traveling away AND there was a hug semi in between. You would have been stopped in the left lane watching it all unfold, or at least the ending where she goes into the median and flips. With that said, you have to do what you have to do in the moment. it's easy to arm chair quarterback. i am merely just telling you all what my behavior leads me to do.

This one was at my shop a while back. Semi Truck came onto the wrong side of the freeway and hit the taco almost head on. The driver was banged up but walked away.

The 18 wheeler was hauling big pipes. You can see on the C pillar (rear pillar) the rounded out shapes of the pipes indented into the body.

How's your neck doing? I got rear ended a few years ago and he was only going about 30. I had a sore neck for days.

The OP did say he didn't see her fishtailing so he didn't react based on that.

I'm guessing they totaled that one? If the frame didn't get tweaked, it could be useful...
