Help. How do I remove/fix this? Or should I just buy a black cover that goes over it?

Heat gun or hair dryer used carefully should soften up the adhesive for you to slowly full it off.

The wrap/tint shop guys tried to steam them off, and got nowhere. I'd bet hours of heat, paint safe adhesive remover and plastic tool scraping would do it eventually.

If he started back when he posted, he probably got them off by now :D

That said, I just pulled these for the same reason two weeks ago and found a little heat, a lot of patience, and 3M adhesive remover to eventually get the job done.

I have these on my 2014 on the front lower edge of the fender flares. They still look good with the exception of the very edges that have some small specks that look like oil or tar. They still look clear otherwise with no cracking. That said, there is also literally no abrasion or pitting from sand or stones (perhaps because I still have the front mudflaps on the truck) nor any age-cracking or other deterioration. (currently 134k miles) So I don't understand what they are really protecting? l'd probably/more likely just remove them before they get too far gone with the cracking, but honestly see no reason to ever replace them until they are unsightly and have that deteriorated look. YMMV

Is it peeling up or just ugly?

mine was ugly but not peeling but I decided to spray my flares with bedliner to give the truck a different look. Sprayed several coats and you can’t even tell it’s there, totally changed the look of my truck. I weighed the options of cost and labor, this seemed the best option for me. I’m sorry I don’t have pics to post.

I have also since learned not to use the rotary rubber eraser wheel on the plastic fenders, it will gouge and melt the plastic. For metal surfaces only.

They have a thin brown outline all around just barely under the outside edge; a sharp pencil line. The rest of it looks clear and fine; no deterioration otherwise. It's one of those things where you just know from looking at it that if you start fiddling and messing with it to clean it you are just going to end up making it look worse.

I ended up repainting my flares with raptor liner because those screwed up my paint coming off.

Good reason to learn from you and leave the ones on my truck alone. Thanks for passing that info along. I'm not entering any car shows soon so they don't really bother me. Here's a couple of pics of the ones on my truck at the ten year mark.
