That is odd. When I searched for replacement glass a year or two ago I was told by a couple of glass places you can't get the glass separately. That on a Tacoma the slider frame is built around the glass and would be ruined if you try to replace just the glass.

    Quick search here:

No one changes just the glass. The frame comes with the glass on a slider.

I have a 2014 Tacoma with 103,000 miles on it. Number of times I've used (or wanted to use) the slider? Zero. If mine ever needs replacement, it will be with the one piece glass.

ARE cap, wade inchannel vent visors, weathertec floor mats, ranch hand grill guard, tuffy security boxes in bed, lockable tailgate handle. Still have stuff that needs to be installed and still have stuff ordered lol.
it would be easier to put rear defroster on a 1 piece

I'm thinking about pulling my slider out in favor of a one piece.
Part of the frame of the slider is damaged from the PO, he had a toolbox in the bed and it was rubbing on the frame of the window.
I priced out both and the sliders are super expensive.

I didn't use the slider in my Access cab at all last summer. Kinda a PITA to deal with. I've had sliders in reg cab trucks before. FF to this summer, I've used the shit out of the slider, the air flow is perfect compared to the tornado effect encountered in my previous reg cab trucks. Great when the temps are not quite up to a/c territory. If it broke, I'd replace it with another slider. For those who run a/c or climate control constantly, I could understand the opposite. But I like me some fresh air if it ain't sweltering hot/humid out!

I have a cap, so I don't really open the slider window anymore. But before I had the cap, I used it often and loved it - it's the only thing I miss about having the cap.

How much did it cost you (parts and labor)? Did you go with OEM?

I have the slider on my double-cab. I have only had it open a few times over the last 3 years since I got the truck. Even so, I would probably replace it with same if it ever broke. With the driver's window down some, ventilation is great when also I open one of the rear door windows about 1/3 of the way. Same for the when the slider is open.

If I could reach the slider from the front to open it or if it was remotely powered, I would probably have it open most of the time during the summer instead of running the a/c.

I open the slider periodically to get some air flowing through the cab. In fact, I specifically avoided buying a truck with a solid rear window because I knew I'd use it.
