    Hello all,

I am just starting some preliminary designs for a rear HC bumper for my 2005 DCSB. I've taken measurements and have started designing the bumper in Autodesk Inventor. This thread will primarily be for me to log my progress along the way. It will be a slow build but will start with the computer drawings and then the fabrication stage. Some of the design features will include:
    1. Tire swing out gate (35" tire)
    2. Gas tank mounts
    3. Hi-lift mount
    4. CB Antenna Mount
    5. Tow Hitch Receiver
    6. Cutting the rear fenders for plate wings
    7. Hybrid style with plate and tubing
    8. D-Ring shackle recovery points
Feel free to ask any questions along the way! If anyone is interested, here is a thread for the rock sliders I just finished building: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/my-2nd-gen-rock-slider-build.473265/

    Pictures soon to come!

So I have modeled a good chunk of the bumper however the measurements aren't exact. This design is simply to get my head around what I want. I plan to build as I go based on the design and then make changes on the computer as need be. For example, the wings are most definitely not in the correct location in relation to the frame mounts but it gives the big picture.

Still need to add the swing out tomorrow. This was just a few hours playing around.

Do you see them now? I used Cubeupload but the image quality doesn't seem great.

Somewhat finalized the design. Minor details haven't been added yet but will be in the future. I have ordered a heavy duty spindle hinge and a couple of clevis mounts from AtoZ Fabrication. Planning on picking up materials this Friday! Stay tuned.

Any thoughts or comments would be much appreciated because this is my first bumper build.

This is designed for a 35" tire. I plan to mount a couple jerrycans on the swing gate and possibly the hi-lift along the bottom of the gate.

These came in yesterday! Mega spindle tire carrier hinge and clevis mounts from A to Z Fabrication. Can't wait to get started!

Side note: I bought a riding lawn mower w/ a Briggs & Stratton Twin II 18HP motor on it that I plan on restoring and tricking out lol so that may take some of my time for this build. I couldn't pass up the deal for $50!

All materials are in! Now for the fun to begin.

I have cut out the mounting plates and they are almost done. Just have to weld on some plates for bolting to the bottom of the frame rail.
