I recently called to schedule the recall repair on my 2008 offroad. I asked what was Toyota's fix and was told they were going to add an additional clamp to the existing spring package. I asked how that was going to solve a fracture due to stress or corrosion as noted in the recall notice, explaining that 3 bags of groceries will take the bed to the bump stops with the stock spring. I had the tech look up the repair protocol and he repeated that this is Toyota's fix. Has anyone else ran into this or did I speak to someone who was simply uninformed? I was under the impression they were going to replace the spring with a 4 pack. Thanks in advance.

Most likely a misinformed employee. I was given bad information from my local service dept multiple times before the "remedy" became "active" in this area.
