Only OEM will not squeak. If you looks at the bushings, they actually do no contact the hangers. They have teeth on the sleeves that bite into the bracket and the bushings are fixed to the leafs, and they twist. This is why you do not tighten them until the weight of the vehicle is on them. Just the same as the front control arms.

I had Dakars on my 3rd gen. I drilled and installed spring pads, but it was the bushings drying out that made them squeak. Pure silicon would keep them quite for about 4-6 months, after that pulling into a gas station would draw looks :frusty:

Since we're sort of on the subject, where exactly would you put the SuperLube Grease for the Daystar/Trail Gear greaseable main eye bushings? I've got Dakar springs and the front bushing is worn out. Replacing with the Daystar poly bushings. I've read to put the lube all over the bushing, but also saw Timmy Toolman video that says only put the superlube grease on the inside of the bushing. I really want to avoid squeaking and creaking.

Sorry/not sorry for a partial thread derail.

Be generous. Anywhere the poly meets metal, lube it for the leaf spring bushings.

Things like Whiteline LCA bushings are a tad different. They install into the eye of the lower control arms DRY, but once in, I lubed all surfaces where pivoting will take place.

I'm glad to hear that. I just smeared it all over the poly and stuffed it in.

When I installed my Whiteline LCA bushings, I lubed the crap out of the outer sleeve with antiseize. I really don't want to fight getting them out again.

My icon pack was pretty quiet, don't think they made any noise till I spent some time on dusty Maine logging roads. Now they squeak, not to loud but definitely noticeable in parking lots or coming to a stop at a light. Could be fixed if I put the time in the clean the dust out but its not worth the time for me.

You should of used oem bushings. They are cheap and noise free.

Bringing back this thread. I've heard of people using these Wheelers for the OME Dakar squeaks. Just saw there's a from DayStar; may be nice to have the Zirk. Has anyone tried the greasable ones for the Dakar squeak?

Ive been using the Wheelers poly bushings with stock shackles and OME Dakars for around 5 months, with around 5 off roading trips that were mainly mud, and no squeaks. Been pretty impressed so far because to be honest, I thought they would be squeaking by now especially after all the mudding. But like I said they are still going strong, and I figured if they started to squeak, I dont mind taking the time to take apart and regrease every thing, so no experience with the Daystar stuff or grease zerk. Keep in mind though it seems many people have different experiences with squeaking, some have it, some dont :notsure:
