Rear lift requiring lengthened driveshaft?

    At what amount of rear suspension lift do you need a longer driveshaft? Looking at the angles involved, anything up to 3 or 4" of lift only nets a 1/2" difference, well within the slipyoke range. Unless I'm missing something?

    This is for a DCLB, 2 piece driveshaft.

    I would say never, at least not that I ever heard of. Correcting the angles is the important thing.

    You don't you just might need to do the arb carrier bearing drop

    Yeah that's kinda what I was thinking. Even at full droop, it's got plenty of engagement on the slipyoke, not even stretching the boot.

    I'm trying to avoid that by modding my stock DS with a CV center. Might shim the axle, might not be necessary.

    most people that run 3"s of lift in the rear have to drop the carrier a bit to avoid vibrations.

    nope. I just bought longer bolts and stacked a bunch of washers. cost was about $1.50

    Okay well looks like I'm sticking with a stock length shaft - shop marked 80 1/2" F to F on it before disassembly, can anyone confirm that's correct?
