Rear main seal failure/leak at < 70,000, what next?

    Why feel this way? It's entirely possible. As someone who spends WAAAAYYYY too much time reading and looking at Tacoma posts, I think if there was a rash of issues with this, it would be here and well known.

    Sometimes your just lucky.

    I bought a new 1993 Camry that squeaked going over bumps from day one. Of course they told me there was nothing wrong, so I just carried on and drove it. Fast forward 15 years and my mechanic inspecting the car told me that my squeaky rear bushing had completely disintegrated as it wasn't properly installed in the first place (from the factory!)
    My point? Even Toyota isn't perfect and your seal may not have been seated properly. A more likely culprit is seals aren't as durable as they used to be due to EPA regulations outlawing certain materials for their manufacture (asbestos?) That ain't on Toyota.

    Not trying to be a wise a..... but are u sure it is not coming out of the rear section of oil pan ????
