I've had a rear main seal leak since 2007 when I bought the truck. I have done pretty regular oil changes and never done anything about the leak. At times it has been pretty bad, adding oil every week or two. After the last oil change, it seems to have quit leaking. Going to get it changed by my mechanic today. What does it mean that it has quit leaking? Is there a way to flush it out and do I need to?

What oil weight do you use? Maybe you/your mechanic put a slightly thicker oil in by mistake and 'fixed' it.

DO NOT flush it! I can almost guarantee the leak will come back worse than it was. All you can really do is live with it if it is not horrible, or get the rear main replaced. Since you have an automatic, you don't have to worry about oil getting on your clutch components causing them to slip. I would leave it, if you can live with it.
