It's only useful if they admit their is a problem. I got an 8 year 120K platinum that was just a pair of golden handcuffs. Everything was still a PITA to get addressed...if they addressed it at all. :notsure:

I’m at the dealer now and they mentioned that the rear main seal is probably leaking on my 16.

I've got a Rear Main Seal leak @ 106k. Having it repaired out of pocket :censored:. Found out Toyota has replaced the original seal with a re-enforced one.

heh I called corporate after calling the local service department 4-5 times over the course of a year and half trying to get the dash in my wife's sienna replaced through the recall they sent out. They never told me to come in to have it inspect and just said the parts are on order, took my info, and told me they'd call me when parts came in. 4-5 months after the recall was over I called and the service department said they had no record of me. Corp said I was outside the warranty period and to pound sand. Can only blame myself for not going up there in person, but the recall paperwork just said to contact a local service department. The service department just kept asking for my VIN and telling me they'd call me when the parts were in. I didn't know any better... Glad Corp took care of you.

funny thing is the service dept manager said this happened to a bunch of other people, too, but he was new there.. I say funny, but I didn't laugh.

Nice! The trifecta. The warranty seems to have panned out in your case.

Sounds like some crappy dealerships .
Dealerships are paid very well for warranty work . There should be no excuses when you bring in your truck requesting warranty .
Toyota doesnt seem to care though .
Like any mass producer , their first priority is making money .
Sad to see this from a company that was so reliable in the past

Just an opinion...if toyota intended these vehicles to be built, and run with lifts, and large tires they'd take care of any warranty issues like this no question. It seems when someone always knows more than the engineers do, modifying these truck there are issues. Its no wonder toyota doesn't care as much as in the past. They have to to put up with all this bitching, and whining from owners that create there own problems. Its no wonder some dealers get frustrated with refusing service. I think those owners have to share some responsibly to.

While I agree, timing cover and rear main have nothing to do with a lift:confused:. Most times, dealers assume that anyone that walks in the door is an idiot and tries to get away with as much as possible, it's their culture: upselling, etc. In the past, when I dealt with the dealer, I would go in, making it obvious that I knew what I was talking about etc and they still tried to pull one over, that's where my distaste for the dealer comes from.

Just bought a 2018 last month, last week found oil coming from the bell housing. The truck only has 20K miles on it so still have factory warranty and Toyota certified warranty. It's at the dealership now getting looked at but we'll see if they try to get out of it or not... It felt like they were already trying to butter me up with "we'll see if it's bad enough to replace". Is it really acceptable for any car with 20K miles on it to be leaking any oil at all??!

Fast-forward thread revival today's date, discovered rear main oil seal leak, 1150 miles past 80K extended warranty. Vehicle is on dealer lift now... the dealer better not come back and say it was the lift as they installed the lift pre sale. They tried to blame the shifting problem early on before the tsb for that problem, yup, on the lift

I took mine into the dealer last Wednesday for time cover leak, that they couldn't find. But they said the rear main seal was weeping.
They said check back in 1000 miles , but ignored my power steering pump covered in oil, after specific telling them. Well guess I'll get main rear seal and timing chain cover done now.
