    0W-20 is spec'ed for political reasons - fuel economy. But in other countries like Mexico which don't have federal fuel economy standards, Toyota tells Tacoma V6 owners they can run oils as thick as 15W-40. tac.jpg

    I was kind of thinking, what about just running some 5-20 since I live where its about 115 on a regular day June to October. 15-40 blows my mind, is that for real? 0-20W in the 110 plus day after day, I always wondered about if that was really a good idea.

    Been in South America since September. I’ve used 0/20 all the way to 10/30. Current fill is 10/40 courtesy of the Naval base in Montevideo Uruguay. Can’t tell a difference between any of them.
