For the last few weeks I've had this annoying rattle every time i go over any kind of bump, pothole, or crack. It's been driving me nuts. I have OCD when it comes to rattles. After searching all I could on TW with no success (windows, seat belts, headrest, seats, airbags..) I finally found it tonight (after heavy investigating).

It was the plastic panel against the rear of the cab. I put the rear seats down. Tapped with me finger in various locations on the panel and the rattle was replicated. I cut up pieces of cardboard and jammed them in-between the panel and the cab. Problem 100% solved. What a relief!

I just did it quickly to see if it actually was the problem.

After realizing it was the problem I trimmed the cardboard nicely to fit.

I did all along the edges as well. Just tapping areas with your fingers you can locate where rattles are coming from and where to place cardboard.

Hope this helps someone else out because I know how annoying rattles can be!

Just curious --- are those screws tight?

Ya they were tight. It wasn't super loose or flimsy. I actually used a wedge to get gap large enough to get cardboard in there.

Hopefully you will remove the cardboard and put in a more suitable material to rectify the rattle effect.

A foam rubber weatherstrip seems like a good choice for that.

Agreed. I will definitely be looking for something better. Foam, rubber, something.. Busy during the week with work but on the weekend I will swing by Home Depot and poke around. Just glad I located the rattle and found a temp fix. Went for an hour drive last night and drove into work this morning and so far not a rattle to be heard. Wondering if I'm the only one with the problem or maybe I'm just the only one who has OCD

I have used foam tape and the "fluffy" side of velcro, to get rid of some rattles in different cars before. It was maybe $2-3 max.
I don't hear it yet in my truck, but I had the damn weather stripping noise that I fixed

I would remove the panel, get some rubber vacuum line, slit it lengthwise with a blade knife and slide it on to the edge of the entire panel and reinstall it. Those types of rattles drive me nuts too!
