It would take hours to align everything. I just told myself "fuck it" when I thought about what's involved to line it up. You'll have to redo your whole suspension alignment. Shifting the rear axle and leafs a bit to get things centered, then align the bed, then go back to align the cab to the frame, and finally the front suspension to get front and rear axles square to the body/frame. Even when you can get everything to wiggle a bit, there's still no guarantee you'll have enough wiggle room to get everything perfect.

Basically, it's "normal". Most pickup trucks are like this.

My sister in law had an old 70's 4 door nova that looked like it was going down the street sideways....the front looked like it was about 4-5 inches further right than the rear...it was funny to follow her in the car and see that...

Next time your walking through a parking lot you should start looking at ALL the cars and trucks and you'll see this is normal. It's not an issue with the car or truck and is totally normal and most people don't notice this until they do suspension work or swap rims and tires. I even had this on a 71 camaro and 76 corvette that I owned.

Magnetic field effect. Are you parked east to west ?
    Try north to south.

    That's very disheartening!
Does Toyota even know about this bed alignment issue, or even care to read something like this?

You sure your spacers are the same size? Could be a mix up.

Well that may be but my bed is definitely out of alignment. Between bed and cab one side is 1-3/8 gap and the other side is 1/2. When it's fixed wheels will be almost centered with the bed.

    Optical illusion
    Optical confusion
    Or most likely bed misaligned
Mine came that way I let the dealership know, service manager seems to me to be the most effective one to talk to, service advisor I talked to gave me the impression that he couldn't give a shit so I grabbed the service manager as he walked by and he told the advisor to write it up to check and align bed
It was fixed when I picked it up
Also took care of the hood fluttering
    No charge
    Good luck

    I don't think they care.

    Taco lean... 2005-current.
    Sagging leaf springs... 2005-current.
Rusting frames... 2005-2009? (Not sure if the lawsuit covered later models).

    2016 Tacos:
    Transmission issues.
    Differential recall.
    CPS Recall/issues
    More...

As a consumer I don't get the sense they really give a shit about quality anymore. At least on the Tacoma. They sold a shit ton simply because everything else in the category either sucked or did not exist.

You can always just lower it and roll the fenders around the tires... Fixed the same issue on my Miata that way! Still handled off road pretty well as you can see.

Might not be the solution you were looking for though...

Yes it is. Google it and look at the years of threads on all the different manufacturers with the same question and then look at all the different cars while your out and you will see that this quite normal or just go to a dealership and look at all the new cars on the lot and you will see the same thing.

As other have said, this is a really typical Tacoma issue since Toyota takes the "that'll do" attitude with the Taco. Get the right size torx bit and it is super easy to align. You can get pretty close by just making sure the gaps between the bolts and the raised ribs on the bed floors are even from side to side.

Glad I found this tread by google search. After installing spacers, I was told by a buddy who was following me saying that my right rear tire stick out more than my left.

Yep I've experienced this after putting new wheels with 0 offset and new aggressive tires. Glad to know it's pretty common. May try loosening the bed bolts and seeing if there is enough movement to lessen the affect.

Awesome, thanks for the quick response in this nearly 2 year old thread. It's just something I became aware of 2 days ago when looking at mine in the Home Depot parking lot.
I'll read through the blog ...

I aligned the bed to my cab and then the bumper to the bed. Did it all on my own in about 45min. I did not need to mess with the bed pin though nor the fuel fill neck. I only had to move it 1/2 to 3/4 inch to one side and back some though. The bed moves quite a bit once the 6 bolts are loose.

Thanks to both of your responses. Mine is exactly the same 3/8 inch offset (to the passenger side) as tandemgeek's. I'm going to start by loosening the torx bolts and see how that shakes down. However I read tandemgeeks blog and may go that extra bit if it doesn't work the first way. Heading outside now. I'll post up what happens!
