2017 TRD Sport with 500 miles and my rear seat back won't latch locked. It's the '60' side (60/40 split).

Has anyone else had this problem or know how to fix it?

    Thanks

    something blocking it?

maybe grease the pulling mechanism to ensure it works properly

It looks like maybe the latch is stuck in the locked position... when I pull up on the rope lever it barely moves.

id run it to the dealer before you mess with it, if they can't assist, work some grease in.

I have the same issue. I took the back of the seat apart and pushed the lock portion part back up and now it works just fine.
Sometimes you have to slam the seat into the latch for it to catch.

I slammed it a few times and no luck so I stopped so I didn't break anything. I have an appointment with a local dealer for Saturday so I'm just hoping they can resolve it so I don't have to take the seat apart.

Just bought my first Tacoma (2017 TRD OR Manual Trans) 2 weeks ago and I am having the same issue. Was the dealer able to assist with fixing the latch? I scheduled an appointment for next weekend to have them look at it.

Dealer fixed it... I saw the technician just slamming the seat as hard as he could a couple times until it finally locked into position. I could have done the same thing however I wanted to document the problem with Toyota.

I have the same problem. The band or cord you pull to release has a orange line like maybe someone pulled it too hard or something( didn’t even notice until I hit the brakes today and the seat came forward). Truck is brand new guess I’ll take it in and have them fix it. Tried slamming it but didn’t want to break anything.

Did anyone find a solution for this that doesn't involve someone beating on the back seat?

I had the same problem on my SR5. Used the red straw attachment on the fluid film can to spray the locking mechanism with it. Waited a couple days for it to penetrate, then pulled up on the latch while lightly hitting the back seat onto the hook. Used more pressure with each strike until it latched.

Didn't take anything apart, and didn't use too much pressure either.

I got mine to latch. I leaned the seat forward to access the latch and cycled it manually. Then pulled the release tab. After two or three cycles it was functioning properly again.

    Pics of issue for reference.

Lithium grease on the latch mechanism Use a qtip to work it in then exercise the latch.

Mines fell out maybe a year ago and now I need help finding a replacement pull loop. Now that I'm looking to repair it I can't find the strap that came loose. I'm having a hard time finding the piece.
