In another post, I was getting enlightened on the benefits/drawbacks of doing an 'add a leaf' versus adding air bags to my Taco to compensate for load handling.

My rear shocks on this truck are completely worn and could use some TLC, and I was wondering if there are any favorites for replacements. Are the stock TRD Bilsteins a worthy shock? I've seen quite a few different replacements, from Rancho RS999319, to Bilstein BE5-C476-H0 (5100 series).

Granted, I don't do ANY off-roading, but go off the beaten path just to access campsites and such. Most of my truck's use is with hauling a 3000 lb. trailer.

    Thanks for sharing your expertise!

Stock TRD Bilsteins are an improvement over the Tokiko base shocks but still aren't anything special. I've got the 5100 rear shocks and really like them, even with a stock suspension. I've heard over time they start to ride a little rough but I haven't experienced that yet.

Thanks for that. I was looking to start with a better shock and change only if need be, versus picking one at random and most likely having to change it sooner rather than later!
