Hahahaha! I'm in the same boat, I hope.

I wish that listing would give some dimensions, but maybe it is a standard?

Needle nose vice grips are what you specifically need, they'll work better than normal ones. Get them so fucking tight that you can barely muster the strength to latch them shut. It'll work, I've done it more than two dozen times.

I should also add that with these, because you can get such a strong grip with them, you don't have to be engaging the entire flat part of the shock nub. Grip them a little higher. Then just keep loosening the nut with a wrench, even when it hits the vise grips. Keep loosening, and it'll slowly push the vise grips off of the shock. That way they'll hold the shock from spinning until the very end.

Didn't know it's on most shocks? I only worked on shocks 3 or 4 times. My jeep wasn't like this. If I remember correctly, I used allen wrench to hold the top and easily removed the nut. Never seen a flat one till now. Why don't they use allen wrench instead of this one that needs a special tools?

Front is a allen wrench but you dont need a special tool for the rear. I used a 10mm(I think 10mm) box wrench to get mine off, vice grip works too.

That 'll be my next few moves. I gave up for the day. It pissed me off. I'll come back to it tomorrow. I was super jealous seeing people on YT getting that nut off like nothing.

I grabbed one from Home Depot. I'm gonna try it out tomorrow when I'm calm and focused.

I think that’s a great idea. I usually have a lot better success with a level head. I can get heated while wrenching sometimes.

My apology on this one. My fault. You are absolutely correct which you've already knew it. This is a special tool made specifically for removing this type of nut and bolt from shocks. It's called shock Absorber Remover. Two pieces comes in a kit. A smaller piece that goes over the tip of the flat bolt and a bigger piece goes over the smaller piece a d the nut. It's on Amazon, but it won't come till next week or so. I need it now as I finished lifting the front. I'm riding front high and rear down. got to improvise somehow. Will try few items tomorrow.
