Just replaced my rears. Try vise grips between the upper shock body and the upper bracket on the shaft. That worked on one of mine. No go on the second and used a cut off wheel on my pneumatic grinder.

Heat the nut with a propane torch. Grab the upper part of the shock shaft with pliers that have high gripping power (e.g. Knipex pliers wrench), then loosen the nut with another wrench.

If it doesn't budge, cut the nut with a cutoff wheel or nut splitter tool.

The flanged nut makes the nut splitter a little more difficult to use.

looks like you are replacing the shocks. Just grab the shock shaft below the mount with a pair of vice grips really good and go to town. Or just chop it off with an angle grinder and cut off wheel.

If my memory serves me correctly, a 6mm wrench fits on the flats. A cheater bar on both wrenches to help break the rust.

Ya, I had to hold the top of the new ome shock w a 6mm as I tightened the bushing down. Idk how the girl on the YouTube Tacoma beast did it without doing that, she did say she used the stock nut. Maybe that’s how. I figured, why not use the nylon washer nut that came with it .
