The little plastic thingy that "locks" the rear window came unglued almost 5 years ago. I had every intention to glue/stick it back on but then I lost the damn thing. Luckily I never had any issue just sliding the window open with my hand. Unfortunately all the rubber seals around the window are now tearing off.

Anyone else have theirs repaired. Idea on cost or fixes?

    Thanks

cut a stick to fit in the slot along the rear window you can use that as a cheap anti-theft devise other than the broken latch you can try to glue it back on, what the worst that happens you need to go buy a new one.

I couldn't care less about the latch. It's the weather strips that need replacing. Maybe I should change out the entire window?

I've only opened that piece of crap a couple times for no real reason. I'd rather have a solid rear window, yet it's considered an "upgrade". If it was powered I might use it more often, but I doubt it.

You never realize how much you need something till it's gone! There's been a half dozen times I had to slide a long 2x4 through that window. Now I don't even open it for fear of tearing out the rubber strips completely. :(

I get ya now, mine does that as well just pop the seal back in as long as it's not completely broken off otherwise you can cut a small strip of weatherstripping to fill the gap and glue it to the stationary window portion

Jesse - How do you pop it back in? I have a 2006 Taco and mine just rolled out of the channel for the first time. Can't figure out how to get that bigger back in.

Just use your keys or a paint stir stick, mine was torn so i have a homemade rear window lock which is just a wooden paint stir stick. When I use the rear window for the dog to get some air I have to push the seal back in every time.

Ohhh... got it. Thanks. I jammed it back between the glass panes, but if anyone has a suggestion to actually seat it back in the channel, I'm all ears!

I'm thinking it's moulded and if it came out like mine you need a new one if It bothers you enough.

My truck came with the sliding rear window. After about a year I put a sticker on the outside slider. After a few times of opening the slider it ripped the seals out. Guess the sticker was just enough to fill in the gap between the slider and fixed glass. Had the back window replaced with a solid piece of glass. Much happier now since I don't have to worry about someone trying to break in through the slider.

Better yet I wish they had a roll down rear window like some Nissan trucks I've seen.

I know I'd regret not having the window. My rubber seals are pretty much f\_/cked. I'd be shocked if water wasn't already getting into the back cab. I guess my only option is to go to Toyota and see what they'll charge.
