Rear Stabilizer Bar

    My ACLB Sport with the front sway bar was very flat in corners up to the limit of the tires. I think a rear sway bar would get interesting. I did a big rear sway bar on our long gone saab. It made it very neutral, but I had to be careful with worn tires in the rain. That was usually the first indication that it was time to start shopping.

    I said it above, the stock Sport suspension was great for smooth pavement. But uneven bumps, just on my short work commute were annoying. I have a bit of roll in corners, but once it is loaded, the cornering limit feels the same. My guess is that the sway bar, not so much the springs and shocks, are what folks don't like about the Sport? Just a guess?

    I did a few four wheel drifts on my favorite off ramps in the wet. Everything felt great. Side to side transitions are nice and predictable also. In the end, things feel just right with the delete.

    I'd have a different outlook if I was doing what the OP is. I might even re-evaluate once I pull the trigger on a GFC?

    Yup, our 01 4x4 would go anywhere that we wanted to go, within reason. Real OR or crawling, nope. That is the beauty of our 3rd party vendors providing the accouterments necessary to make our vehicles truly fit our needs.

    It is amazing how much cool stuff is out there, at reasonable prices given the effort put into the parts. My wallet makes me do a lot of long term planning. Haha!

    Nice! The damn Kids keep sinking my budget.

    I got mine at the end of September and have about $750 in mods. Mostly little stuff other than a rollup tonneau and bed stiffeners.

    you guys are killing me. its a anti-sway bar. it keeps you from swaying. the other bar has many names. usually used in coil springs to keep axle centered under the rig during suspension travel. I don't know, but I dont see why a leaf spring rig would need a "stabilizer bar" as the leaf springs would have to somehow move left to right?

    bro...you're wayyyy off and completely wrong. That is a pan hard bar because that truck pictured does not have leaf springs it has a 5 link suspension like the T4R's have. No Tacoma's have ever come with a factory rear sway bar and I was just crawling under some 18's at the dealer yesterday and neither the sport or the OR models had a rear sway bar either.

    Ummm...did you actually look at that diagram ? It may be labeled as a 2017 but it is clearly an incorrect piece of reference material = 2nd and 3rd gens do not have shock mounts on the U-bolt plates, they are on the axle.... The bump stop perch is not from a 2nd or 3rd gen either.

    You should neve use those diagrams as correct in the first place. You should be using the list of parts below. As you can see the sway bar is shown but its not called out in the list of parts that fit a 2017 model.

    I agree completely, I recently went through that trying to identify a brake booster part that is not visually represented anywhere on the brake booster or master cylinder Toyota parts schematics.

    People were putting rear stabilizer bars and sway bars also referred to as anti-sway bars on their rear leaf spring cars going back many decades as far as I’ve seen. We also called them anti roll bars in that they can keep your vehicle from rolling, which depending on the vehicle and load can be a good thing!

    While driving in a curve, a stabilizer bar can do a good job of keeping one side of your vehicle from lifting as much as a vehicle lacking one.
    Of course, they can hinder articulation of your rear end if you need it for serious off-roading or low speed rock crawling.
    Hence the sway bar disconnect feature of some off road model vehicles.
