Anyone figure out what the rear storage bin in the Xtracab is all about? I am not quite understanding the logic of the various holes. I assume the idea is for mounting tools or a gun or something or maybe this is some standard I don't know. Anyone have any good ideas? Also with the lid turned down is it safe to put stuff on top since it's a nice level area? Just trying to figure out how to make the rear "storage" in the cab make a little more sense. Thanks in advance!

Hmmm... well that makes sense. Seems somewhat impractical. Would love to see if someone has put this to use!

With any XC Tacoma I tought about the pest control sector. I would think the spray cans they use could mount back there, no idea if that carrying anything like that is permissible in the cab.

The holes are like the pegboard on a workbench.

OP...... how do you like the truck so far. I'm in the process of settling with Toyota under the lemon law from a 2024 TRD OR that had a catastrophic engine failure at 200 miles. Been going back and forth with replacing it with a 2023 Access Cab or a 2024 Xtracab. Waiting to find a 4x4 SR5 but love the Prerunner also. How's the ride? Bed hop? The 2024 DC rode as good as my 2022 4Runner TRD ORP with KDSS. I'd appreciate yours or anyone's input. This truck fits all my needs. Thanks

Love the truck, if you’re used to a four door you might be disappointed because it is smaller space and getting into the back area for storage is difficult. Besides that it weighs 600 to 700 pounds lighter than the other trucks and drives like a dream. It seems to have a lot of power. If you like the OG two door trucks and are used to driving smaller cars like Porsche’s or Subaru this is right up your alley.

I appreciate your response. This set up is right up my alley. I had the Ford Ranger Access cab twice, FJ's, and my 2020 Raptor was Access cab. A little more effort to get something out of the back is a non issue and I rarely have a passenger. The 6' bed is perfect for me to sleep in when camping. Overall it is exactly what I want and need. Thanks again for responding and enjoy that truck. Waiting on 2025's to come out.

I bought one of the inside-the-bed tents, which worked out pretty well, even in heavy wind because it has straps that you wrap around to the fender while lip so I did not blow away in high winds. Besides that them truck performed above average for a 2 wheel drive truck in super sandy desert environments.

That's the plan! Wan't a topper with crawl through tent on top but $15k-$20k is crazy. I have had Kodiac Canvas tents for years and they make that style. If I can't get the 4x4 I want it will then be the Prerunner. There's quite a bit of sand here in southern Utah but I can live with 4x2 also. Thanks again.

Lack of rear door is still stupid IMO. Having the lid hinge down for the storage means the only way to open it is if nothing is sitting back there, also stupid. As a contractor and a guy who could do without a rear seat, I like the idea of the XC, but the execution leaves me with no choice but to exclude it.
