I see what you are referring to. But, it also says it applies "Only" to 4WD Tacomas. My Taco is not 4WD. Nor is it a Pre-Runner. Mine is your basic "Blah" Tacoma.
I might have a very small argument if I got into suspension specs on the various models. But, they would base their "Not Qualified" on the word "Only" .
    Thanks for the suggestion.

You may want to call the 1-800# just to be sure. I am sure they can check it per your VIN #.

My guess is that if you got the 5 lug truck you are SOL.

Seems you are still out of luck if you have an 09 even though they have the same girly springs.

I was just going to ask the same thing....what does VDS(s) stand for? At first I thought they were partial VIN numbers but I don't think that they are.

So I just heard back from the dealer on my 09 TRD Pre Runner DC, the service agent said that by year my 09 is not eligible. But he stated that the trucks built date is Aug 08 so he is taking it up with the shop manager, who ever that is.
Should here back from him in a few minutes.

CJZ4 I dont mean to hijack your thread but I think this is good info for all us 09 owners.
The service agent called back, they asked to keep my truck overnight. I guess they need to confirm with Toyota back East to get approval on this and they are closed, I questioned why they needed the car overnight and the agent stated in case they needed to verify part #'s or do some ride test first thing in the am?
    We'll see tomorrow?

I just took my truck to Toyota of Redlands today for the TSB and after waiting a few hours I got a call back saying they are ordering the springs. My Tacoma is a Prerunner and they never mentioned anything about it having to be 4WD.

Dublin Toyota just called and let me know that they are ordering the parts and have set up the install for Monday.
So the agent said that they key to getting this done was to state bottoming out under high load and not that it was a quality of the ride issue.
I thought that was funny becuase I told him that the ass sags when I load up 2 person worth of Dive gear not that the ride quality was bad.
Oh well doesnt really matter, important thing is that this is getting done on my 09 2wd Prerunner.
    Hope this is helpfull.

I had the printed TSB (not the Jan 12th version) sitting on the passenger seat when I took it in. Later, the service manager and the mechanic came out - The SM said "Can you explain to him what sounds you are hearing?" I explained that it was bottoming out when I had a few railroad ties in the back...

The mechanic looked at the SM and said "Thats all I need to hear, I'll order the parts."

Personally I think the Jan 12th revision is a misprint... Whoever wrote it doesn't understand that ALL PreRunners are 2wd vehicles, so my guess is that the revision is an attempt to address the fact that no regular cabs as well as non PreRunner xtra and double cab 2wd Tacomas are not eligible.

The people that write these things are probably Toyota legal or technical writers that don't necessarily understand the specifics of the different models.

*Edit* Besides - If they are not including the PreRunner in the Jan 12th revision, why do they include the alignment specs for the PreRunner on page 7?

i was at big 2 toyota in chandler recently for some minor warranty stuff. i casually asked about this tsb, and they said "a lot of peole had abused it to get new parts, and they would have to test the truck before ordering parts".

i am going to try another dealer.

Is the ride still just as smooth after having the rear TSB done?

screw the dealers, when I emailed my dealer to inquire about the supercharger they called and emailed me the same day and were eager to set up an appointment to have me install one asap. when I inquired about the tsb I got no callback or response. They are all salesmen, no money to be made for them to install any of these new tsb leaf springs so they will probably go out of their way to avoid installing it at all costs.

I had the TSB done on my 08 DC 4x4 about a month ago and I think the paperwork said it cost about 1400.00

    Hey guys-
Just picked up my truck this morning, it was done yesterday but I was not able to get to the dealership in time.
I took some pre TSB measurements and pictures on Sunday, I'll take some post pics and measurements tomorrow.
The ride in to work (1 hour commute) I felt like I was looking down the hood as if the rear end was lifted, not sure if this is a result of the TSB or me driving the Mini Cooper for the last couple of days then back in a higher vehicle.
There is a noticeable difference in handling, the truck barely has 11k miles on it maybe thats just due to the alignment??
All in all for today the truck felt tighter in a good way if that makes sense, I'll get the pics and measurements up soon.
