heres a tip for that damn rear tailgate latch, (when ya close the hatch, the latch closes then releases,) i replaced a few, bought them used thankfully, them i tore into one of them to see what the hell the deal was, toyota covers the moving latch with a plastic coating, eventually the coating starts to peel off and it gets jammed up down in the abiss of the latch. mite as well have a seat at this point, with lots of scrapeing with a modelers knife and pulling with good tweezers or small needle nose pliers, get all the plastic off the latch and out of the latch assembley, a lil lube or grease and its a done deal for many years. after putting it all back together, as i recall, ya have to take the ground off the battery for a few minutes, for some reason the latch wont do anything until sumthing is reset.
