I'm sure its ideal to have the camera centered on the vehicle, but not sure how wide angle your specific lens is; that being said, if off centering is a possibility, you could always use a cb antenna mount (rago fab for example) that goes between the tailgate/over the driver or passenger side tail light. Now I've done some stuff to my truck.
You just gave me an idea.. buy a smallest and cheapest shark fin cover, cut the top fin off, shorten it to the length I need to fit the camera and the hole for the wire, and cover it with carbon fiber cloth and epoxy. This way it will be a low profile like I want. Little bit of work but I think it's worth exploring.

    Oh look, another mod....
That is what I was thinking of doing too. Use the 2nd fin for the camera, but grind it down so it's a small-almost un-noticeable nub that sticks to the roof.

    Something like this:

But without the base-stand. Remove that and have it sit flush.

That’s a pretty good idea. Sub’d to see the write up or video of the project.

@MESO produced/produces a replacement 3rd brake light assembly that holds a camera. This might be the solution you’re looking for. I have posts out there that covered the view, etc from my testing.

@MESO produces pretty regular. I recall reading his 3D printer was out for a bit, so that may have been the backlog.

This would work with the @MESO NMO 3rd brake. It has the hole in the top that can handle such a mount/cable.

Looks good. Question: Does the cover impair the visibility at all? On the .pdf you posted it looked like it give a "blinders" like effect; or reduce the cameras range from 270 degrees to 200 degrees. Am I making sense?

You are making sense and no it does not reduce the viewing angle. The cover is adjustable - I made it that way for future upgrades.

Is it mounted there to your satisfaction, and just has a visibility issue?

Is the tint aftermarket, surface mounted film? If so, cut a circle for the lens to look through.

I had it inside the cap as a test. It was okay during the day but too dark at night. The tint is OEM, so no circle - I've thought of that too.
