Tried to revive an old thread, but I'm impatient so here's a new one.

Just realized some of the 3rd gens apparently have a height adjustment for the rear view mirror?

Can someone confirm the newer trucks with TSS have an adjustment to raise the rear view mirror?

I'm tall so on my test drives it was in my line of sight badly. Creates a big blind spot for cross traffic coming from the right, etc.

That damn huge plastic box will probably still be in my line of sight no matter what. This is my only real hesitation on buying a new Tacoma.

On the older 3rd gens without TSS you just push the entire mirror and arm as high as they will go. Then just tilt the mirror head down without moving the arm. Doesn't raise it a lot but was a lot better for me

That's a Tacoma with Toyota Safety Sense which I believe is standard on 2018 and up Tacoma. Might be called TSS-P instead of TSS...whatever they are calling it.

EDIT: someone correct me if wrong. Might only be certain trim levels of 2018, but standard on newer models.

Yeah I just learned about that tonight! I was hoping someone could tell me if the new trucks can do this. It could really make the driving experience better for me.

I wish someone would tell me. Lol.

    A camera?

A tiny little home for the electrical gremlins to live?

    I don't really know.

Fuck that shit. So much in the line of sight. Surprised toyota would open itself to the liability of that much shit in the windshield.

It's not great. Haha. I was hoping I could raise the mirror itself at least, as described earlier in this thread. Still don't know if possible. Hoping someone will chime in.

This stuff will all be mandatory in all cars. Self driving options/mode for all models as well. This is all practice/warmup to testing each individual system over the years vs trying to put a newly built complete system that may not work. They have had several issues with BSM, alert for braking/ auto braking and the front nose sensor trying to integrate this crap into this truck.

Do you have the ability to turn off (and default off) any of these systems?

I am not sure, I think most turn back on after the truck has been turned of and restarted.... so you feel like a helicopter pilot hitting buttons and switches before lift off:mad:

The box is all part of the Toyota safety system as @JaCado mentioned. I'm sure someone will chime in but might be awhile since it's a Saturday night and getting late.

@ImMrYo had something for sale on the 2nd gens to move the mirror up. Maybe something for the 3rd gens too?
