When you have problems with your truck the dealer plugs the reader into that and the reader says; "IT'S NORMAL".

Don't get me started. They must be friends with Ford.

I'm still waiting for the automatic rear view mirror to actually dim at night. Yeah, the little light is on. Doesn't make any difference if I turn it on or off.

Mine actually tend to dim when they hit street signs, and that sensitivity is adjustable as well.

Mine is a drastic difference. I'd goto the dealer with that one.

Wait what? Please show us sensei.

    Nice mod to the mod!

It is not over tightening. It is yanking on the mirror since it is now on an arm away from the original location. Like a lever.

You just have to rotate as you pull in a direction to compensate. No big deal really.

For those who have installed the mirror riser, is there enough clearance at the top for a piece of thin, double sided tape between the mount and the windshield? Or possibly some type of adhesive?

I can look later, but the 3rd Gen installation is more difficult than shown there for a 2nd Gen. The top has to be pushed into the headliner a bit. I think that double sided tape, esp good stuff like 3M VHB tape would get stuck before it is in the final position.

If you could rig up a way to peel the backing off after it is in place, that would be pretty cool.

Might be able to tape a piece of painter's tape to the backing layer of double sided tape, then pull it off once in place. Probably just end up pulling your painter's tape out, though. LOL

On second thought, packing tape would stick better. And maybe even add super glue if necessary.

Potentially. You would want to test that out before trying it for real.

Also, give it a shot without the extra tape. It is not that bad.

I believe there was a post or two about the mirror mount coming off for folks without a mirror riser. Just a random flaw.

my plan originally was to use some of the mirror glue used to reattached the button, bu the local shop was out at the time, and like said before the 3rd gen is a very tight fit. I filed the top edge down to get some clearance as well as removing the ram mount wings. My idea on the mirror glue was to help prevent leverage on the OEM mirror button

Yeah I was trying to think ahead to prevent leverage on it as well. How's it holding up?

I purchased the mirror riser awhile back, ended up not using it because of its difficulty. It raised the mirror up, but then the top of the mirror hits the roof center console and tilting the angle of the mirror up so I could see passed my tail gate was not possible. :-/
