I just got a new to me 2005 Tacoma. I got this to replace my 1999 that has a bad frame, details in that in the 1st gen section. I am making different posts since the subjects are so different.

The inside, rear view mirror in my truck seems to be in the wrong place. I think it is mounted too low, it blocks a BIG portion of where I want to see when driving. I have not been to see another Tacomas yet, but most other windshields I see, the mirror mount is glued into the "shaded" section in the center/top of the glass. Mine is right in the middle of the clear glass. I am wondering if the windshield has been replaced and the mirror installed incorrectly.

I have never had to remove a mirror mount from the glass. I know the glue is VERY tenacious and can damage the glass when removed.

    Any suggestions?

It really is a terrible setup. The relocation brackets was the first mod I did to my truck and is still my favorite

You can tell if it's been replaced based on the printing in one of the lower corners of the glass. It'll say "TOYOTA" if it's OEM glass...otherwise it's aftermarket. The location of the mirror is correct, btw. They changed it slightly in 2012 when they started adding the backup camera and auto dimming mirrors.
