Is there a solution? A rear window defroster is something that I need and appreciate on a vehicle, especially in the winter. I have always had a rear window defroster on every previous vehicle that I owned (except for a frustrating C-J7).

I've never needed a rear window defroster on my 2006 Taco OR this 2016.... It's a non-issue for me in the winter here... It will go down to -40 C sometimes, but even then the rear window will only frost up if you have let your Weather Techs fill up with slush/water... Then the next morning there might be a little of frost, but it goes away fast with the heater on using windshield defrost..!

(OH... a good tip for you Canuckians... If Weather Techs are full of water when you get home....throw some paper toweling down there... Next morning just remove the frozen towels to reduce the humidity in the cabin)... It works..!!

The mirrors will defrost while I scrape the winshield and I'm good to go...

Never seen this as an issue. Power seats would be nice though, but only if they had the "memory" settings for driver 1 or 2... hehehe

    I agree with over60
Never needed to defrost the rear window of my 2010 double cab and I live way way way up North in Canada .
My daily trip to work and back is 20 miles on a frozen lake .

Got the heated seats with my leather package and I like them .
If I could only get a heated steering wheel I would buy a new Tacoma tommorow but the heated wheel still is " NOT " offered .
Cant even get them with a Tundra .
    Golly !!! o_O

The heated side view mirrors are pretty freakin great though. Standard equipment on all 3rd gen Tacos.....

Just used those last week, cold, dreary and rain had the mirrors all fogged up and they cleared off quickly, will be nice in the Winter too!

Have used this feature in the Winter and really like it.

Read that it should be turned off once the mirrors are clear, so I do.

I like heated seats and steering wheel too, but definitely not a priority for me.

When I test drove the Canyon, I did not see any interior control to adjust the side mirrors, so I rolled down the window and did it manually.

The layout of the Taco is definitely more refined than the twins imo, and I am enjoying my SR5, even without all the amenities.

I almost think the Heated Mirrors might be on some sort of timer and go off on their own after so many minutes, I need to check the manual. I love the Heated Seats, they were high on my priority list, sure help take the chills away!

Yes it turns off automatically, but it is better to turn it off once the mirrors are clear instead of letting it continue to warm past the point it is needed, read it on TW, fwiw

Just wondering.. is there still no rear defrost for the back window of the Taco? Picking my 2020 up soon but don’t remember seeing defrost lines in the rear window. Might be because I’ve got a sliding middle window as well but either way.. anybody know?

    Years later, still no.
It's not needed, the defroster gets em all.
