So whenever I have my rear window slid open, I can hear a distinct rattle coming from the back. I can't hear it with the window closed, so it leads me to believe it is either the window/window mechanism, or something in the bed/back/underneath (I have no cargo in my bed either). Again, it isn't loud enough to hear with the back window closed. Interweb searches haven't led to anything, and I can't seem to reproduce the noise by banging around the bed. It seems to happen when the back end kind of "jumps/drops" over bumps - meaning it isn't every bump that does it, but the bumps that make the back end kind of drop. I plan to get up under the truck this weekend, but thought I'd see if anyone has experienced this. Thanks!

EDIT: THIS IS FOR THE SLIDING REAR WINDOW.

From personal experience and I have posted this before, if I have the front window open enough and I am driving over bumps and holes in the road, I can hear the window mildly rattle in the door. Its not super loud but sounds like someone is tapping on it with your nail. Its normal and other people have had similar problems. Maybe this is the same problem as yours.

I have the same issue. I consider it a minor annoyance. The design of the rear window could probably be improved.

Sounds like my truck. Seems to be a normal design flaw.

Good to know. I'll still take a look around to see if anything is loose. Don't suppose it's easy to get into the rear panel to see what's going on with the window....

I've taken a look and I think there is play on the rail of where the cable pulls the window back.

Same here. Can't figure out how to make it stop.

Had the same problem and found the nuts holding the window tracks were loose. One was gone and laying in the bottom of the door. Put it back on and tightened the other. It fixed the problem. I was never sure if they were never tightened or vibrated loose.

I took the door panel off. I don’t remember the exact order of removal, but there a couple screws and some clips to remove. I carefully removed the plastic liner by cutting the line of mastic with a razor blade. I didn’t unplug any wire connectors, I just supported the door panel so there was no strain on the wires or connectors.

I found the loose and missing nits and reinstalled them. I pressed the plastic back into the mastic and put the panel back on.

I’m guessing it is what the dealer would do, but without the wait and collateral damage that sometimes occurs.

So this was on a rear door window, correct? My issue is with the sliding rear window across the back. Glad you got yours corrected though!

Sorry, I missed that in your original post. I guess my fix doesn’t apply.

I have never opened my rear window, so I don’t know if it rattles or not.

My truck, 2019 with 744 miles, does the same thing with the window open any amount. I opened it half way and you can move the glass up & down a very small amount. Will see what the dealer has to say.

Don't know if you fixed your problem or not but I think I solved the rear sliding window rattle in my truck so I thought I'd share in case it helped you.

I took out the rear storage bins and pulled the insulation panel out from behind the rear seats. The cable that runs the sliding window hangs in place with zip tie style clips that clip into the rear body panel of the cab. The zip ties were only loosely holding the cable so when the rear slider is open and the tension is taken off the cable it just flops around in there. I tightened the zip ties as tight as they would go and trimmed the excess off and I don't hear the rattle anymore. I'll include a picture. The blue zip ties are what I tightened to fix my rattle.

Edit: I know it doesn't seem like that cable would make enough noise to be the problem but it was so loose with the window opened that it would bang on the metal of the cab as well as the plastic air vent in the back of the cab. I took a drive down a real bad road that would make it rattle before and I didn't hear any noise so cross my fingers hope this is the solution.

Thanks! I haven't done anything to check on the rattle as to its source, but it is still there. When I get time to start poking around both underneath the truck, and behind the seat I'll definitely check out your solution!

After driving to work today the rattle is definitely gone. Let me know if this works for you.
