Definitely wait for the urethane to harden before you try to trim out the portions that squeezed out. If you touch it now, man that stuff gets EVERYWHERE.

A bit off topic, but are the 2nd and 3rd gen rear glass the same shape/dimensions? I wonder if they're swappable.

Yes the opening is the same size. The one-piece back glass (FB22481) covers 2005-2019. But the 2016-19 back slider (FB26593) does have a slightly overall smaller block size at 14.0"x54.5" where the 2012-15 (FB22482) is 15.0"x55.3"

Thanks for the info! I’m playing with the idea of a 3rd gen rear window in a 2nd gen

Great job OP and thanks for following up with the results pics. It’s been a couple of years, is it still holding up well?

I just spider-webbed mine yesterday, so if the quotes come back super high for professional jobs, I may have to do this myself. Side note, it’s always funny to me how the professionals in these threads call DIYers idiots for wanting to attempt, and then never say a word when the job is done…

I just destroyed my slider but even in doing so, am also in the "nobody cares more about my truck than I do" DIY camp. I haven't been to a dealer/mechanic in over 20 years other than my tire/alignment guy. I'm sure there's honest, capable and professional pros out there but the 98% of bad apples ruin it for the rest of 'em. Rant over.

Thanks for the info here to tackle this on my own.

Bumping an old thread. I was removing an old decal from my window and the razor blade slipped and cut the outside trim. It’s still sealed good just has a small cut in the outside trim.

Is this window sealed from the inside with urethane as well, I’m just reading to see if ima have a leak now.
    Thanks

Tacomas are a cake walk compared to a ram rear power slider. Last picture is finished product. Literally have to remove everything in the back to get to the motor of the power slider. Also was a 1200$ job that was including the oem backglass.

Hopefully this thread isn’t too old to revive. Does anyone have clarification on what product to use when the window has a rubber gasket? I’ve read conflicting things saying the 3M window weld doesn’t work that well bonding to rubber (or maybe just plastic?). Given that the rear window is encased in a rubber gasket, I’m wondering what the best product to use is?

I’m in the situation of fixing what looks to be a poor install. I have an aftermarket window in my-new-to-me 2011 Tacoma, and the back left panel (gasket and all) has lifted slightly from the body. I think it was improperly set in the first place and has developed a leak there. I’m hoping to remedy it by caulking some urethane into the void, compressing and clamping and hoping for the best. This is an attempt before taking the more expensive measure of replacing the entire window. Any help is appreciated!
