Rear window swap, '04 first time

I am really glad the mornings are cooling off, a good bit in just a few weeks. Its got me thinking about diving back into the rear window change that I never got done when doing all the work i did on the truck before.
I have watched some youtube vids. I still have questions, and would like to hear from 1st gen owners who have tackled this before.
What tools did you use? Did you use the 3/16" "rope trick" to reinstall it? Did you replace the rubber? If so, where did you get it?
I need to remove the glass from both trucks, and reinstall the sliding window in the white truck, my daily driver.
Any advice, comments, or information would be appreciated.

This is also on my to-do list, thanks to some rust starting to form around the seal inside the cab. Check out this post, he outlines the process really well and makes it sound like a relatively easy job.
