So I've noticed the previous owner of my truck had U-Haul install a trailer harness by splicing into the vehicle harness (using tap connectors) just above where the spare tire hangs.

The splices have deteriorated and need to be replaced.

I would like to replace this portion of the vehicle harness rather than try to repair the splices. Is there a disconnect somewhere near the back or would I have to replace the entire harness starting at the engine and working my way back to the tail lights?

if you want to replace this section, you will have to replace the whole thing, from the cab to the tailights. Better to just replace the damaged/corroded wires, unless the wiring harness itself is damaged in multiple areas

Thanks, I thought that would be the case.

Probably not worth the effort but I'm curious what the harness would cost. If anybody knows the part number of the harness please chime in.

Without VIN assuming you have a V6 Auto here is the harness:

    Toyota Part No.: 82164-04641

    Around $400

    https://www.toyotapartsdeal.com/oem...(1=5VZFE;5=ATM;6=4FC;8=XTR;0=VZN195L-CRPDKAB)

If you give me VIN I can confirm

My apologies, I got busy and haven't been on here in 10 days. @Russianman92 you are correct- I saw a label on the harness with that part number (82164-04641). @Wyoming09 I agree, will be much cheaper to repair though they do still stock it.

    Thanks guys!
