I actually have a jeep now. Imagine that.
Anybody have rearview cameras in their tacomas. I got a quick question

I have a boyo license plate mount camera that plugs into my Eclipse AVN5510 by the yellow composite jack. The camera box says it will automatically come on when I put it in reverse, but it doesn't. Any body know how to make it do this? I have the headunit hooked up to the reverse wire so thats not the problem.

is there a camera setting on the headunit itself? my pioneer has to have the camera function turned on the HU in order to see it, that way it doesnt come on to a blank screen whenever u throw it in reverse and there's no camera hooked up

i've messed with those settings and the only way I can get it to work is if i select it as a video source.

av. The camera input needs a special plug.

well there's ur issue....the camera input would auto pop on w/ the reverse kicking in, but a regular AV input is only gong to come on when u kick the HU into AV. u have to either get a plug that'll work on the camera input or cange it to AV each time out wanna see out the back. thats why there is a seperate input specifically for the camera

I know that much. Just was hoping to call out to other eclipse owners. Kinda sucks that they would limit that feature to only their camera.

The cameras have the same wires just different end plugs. Maybe I'll try to wire something fancy up.

My Kenwood had a setting buried somewhere. So, even though the backup ligt was connected to the unit, you had to configure the unit to switch the display to the backup camera when you back up.

These units tend to have a zillion settings and I eventually found the right one.
